Madison City Schools is excited to announce a 2019 grant award from the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) Military-Connected Academic and Support Programs. An award of $1,250,000 was presented to the Mathematical Applications Project (MAP) grant. The MAP Grant objective concentrates on improving the College and Career Readiness outcomes of military-connected elementary students in math. A multifaceted approach using M2, M3, and Number Talks curriculum and instructional math support for teachers will promote students in developing critical thinking skills needed for real-world/mathematical problem solving. While DoDEA grants target military-connected students, all students enrolled at targeted grade levels in Madison City participate in the curriculum and benefit from the supplementation of instructional materials, as well as additional teacher training. Madison City Schools has the distinction of seven DoDEA grant awards since 2010, bringing revenue of $9,172,500 to our system that supplements innovative instruction efforts and directly promotes student achievement in the core curricular areas.
